THEME: CHRIST’S ROYAL AUTHORITY: THE DIVINE SOLUTION TO GLOBAL VANITY 

The Spirit of God has revealed and announced through the Prophet: ‘A son will be given— He shall be called Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. He shall order and establish a state, government, and Kingdom of Peace and Righteousness, Judgment, and Justice. His Kingdom shall be everlasting.’ The Lord God of Hosts will cause it to happen in His desire and zeal for His Kingdom Order on earth (Isaiah 9: 6-7). When the fullness of time came, the Promised Son and King, Saviour, and Redeemer was born. Angels announced the Glad Tidings to the earth with much ecstasy, indicating the joy in heaven.  The Glad tiding was to all men, all peoples, and all nations of the earth.  This was confirmed with the appearance of a special star of the newborn king in the skies for the information and benefit of all men, all the peoples and all nations of the world. (Matthew 2: 1-12). 

Through the wisdom and working power of God, the Wise Men of the East saw the heavenly bright star. It was a Star of a difference, it was a star heralding the great light of the new king who is to bring Life, Light, Liberty, Peace, Righteousness, Joy, and Hope to the human race and creation on earth. The New King has come as Reconciler, Saviour, Redeemer, and Restorer of the world besieged in sin, darkness, death, violence, wickedness, wars, and desolation under the reign and rule of Satan and wicked man. 

The testimony of the Wise Men is of significance in three main respects.  First, that Jesus Christ, The Son Given, as declared by the Spirit of God, acclaimed by angels, believed on in the world as of Divine Origin and is Saviour and Redeemer, a King in Spirit in Truth and in Reality. 

Second, that science, human spirit, and mind, knowledge, and wisdom cannot tell the true and full identity of Jesus Christ. Only God the Creator Himself can make known the true identity of the Son Given.  No one knows the son, except the Father and no one can know the Father except the Son reveals and introduces the Father (Matthew 11: 27; John 14: 21-23). 

The Wise men by the art and skill of human spirit, mind power, knowledge, and science were able to tell that the Star they saw was of the star of a king, and more so of a ‘King of the Jews,’ that is a great achievement. 

However, human culture and knowledge dictate that the king born will by custom and practice be in a king’s house, a palace in the city and seat of government of the king.  By token of custom and practice therefore, the wise men went to Jerusalem—the seat of government and King Herod’s Palace in Jerusalem.  But the truth is that the Newborn King had been destined to be born in Bethlehem, a small city of Judah, not Jerusalem.  The Spirit of God revealed these years earlier.  The wise men, science, and human art did not know and could not find this. It took the Spirit of God to redirect the wise men of the East to Bethlehem.  Knowledge of the Word of God is key to discovering His will, mind, and works of God. 

The fundamental truth and lesson here is that revelation, human spirit-power, mind, and science reveal the truth only in part; they do not disclose truth and reality in its fullness.  We see in part, we find and know only in part. Truth and reality are in the domain of only the Creator—the Alpha and Omega— He holds all things by the power of His spirit and word. It is no wonder human spirit and mind, knowledge, and wisdom, science, and technology have together concluded that man does not know and cannot pretend to have knowledge of Truth, the Absolute Truth that is. Yet, Truth exists! 

As the scriptures reveal God is Truth. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Truth.  Christ is Spirit, Truth, and Word of God.  Blessed be the person to whom God; the Spirit of God reveals the truth and true reality.  Blessed also is the one who admits the weakness and fallibility of man, and in doing so submits to the Spirit of God in sincerity and humility not only for revelation and guidance on truth, reality, and conduct but also surrenders in worship of God the Creator. It is such submission to the Spirit of God and worship of the King Born that men from the East distinguished themselves as ‘Wise Men.’ As is it written: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3). 

This brings us to the third lesson from the testimony of the wise men. The wise men did not just acknowledge that the Child Born is a KING, King of the Jews at that. They worshipped Him, bringing with them gifts in acknowledgement, submission to and honor of His Kingship.  The worship of the King Born also confirms His Divinity signifying as well His mission as Saviour and Redeemer. The wise men fully understood and acknowledged the divine origin, dignity and honor of the King Born.  They obeyed the leading of the Spirit of God via the star and above all worshipped the newborn King when they got to Him.   

The distinction of the wise men lies in their submission to, worship, and honoring of the newborn King. This is a cardinal truth and reality.  All who diligently seek God and find Him worship Him. Human knowledge and work have their limits.  The truth, all truth rest with God the Creator alone. The angels did their part.  The shepherds also went to broadcast the Glad tidings to the nation.  The Wise men from the East on their part affirmed the divinity, dignity, honor and glory of Jesus Christ as Son of God and King on behalf of all peoples and all nations. 

Now, knowing who He is and what His mission was and is in the world, Jesus Christ declared to the world, “I and the Father are One (John 10:30). I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man comes unto the Father except by Me (John 14: 6).  I am the Living bread from heaven. My words, the words I speak are spirit and life. (John 6: 44-65).   I am the door unto the Father and the Kingdom of Heaven. I am come that man might have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10: 9-10). 

The King is Born; the King is Here!  Let the whole world know, acknowledge and honor Him, the Son Given as the King of Glory to the peoples and nations of the world.  He is a King as much to the Jews as the Gentile peoples and nations. The Spirit of God has declared that heaven and earth know, declare, honor, and worship Him as King, King of Kings and LORD of Lords (Revelation 5: 1-14; 19: 11-16). 

Let Ghana, Africa, and all the peoples and nations of the world know assuredly and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son Given.  It is He who is granted power and authority to order and establish the kingdom of heaven on earth and govern, reign, and rule the nations in the knowledge of God and His Kingdom Order on earth.  It is only through Him that men shall be saved, peoples and nations reconciled, delivered and redeemed, and human race and creation restored in glory.  Christ Jesus is the Messiah.  

Though He is God and King, Jesus Christ offered His life and blood for the reconciliation, salvation, and redemption of the human soul-spirit from condemnation and damnation, and eternal captivity to sin, darkness, and hopelessness, death, and Satan who holds the world in dominion. Christ has come to deliver, take-over, transform, and turn the kingdoms of the world to the Father so they all conform to the Kingdom of Heaven order on earth. May all join to celebrate God, Life, Peace, Hope, and Restoration of glory to the human race this Christmas.  Christmas is the celebration of the newborn King who brings Divine Love, Truth, Joy of Salvation, Peace, Righteousness, Life, and Liberty, Hope and Restoration of Glory to all men. The Glad Tidings is that; to all peoples and all nations, a King and Saviour, who is Christ the Lord is born.  Glory to God in the Highest and on earth, peace and goodwill towards men. (Luke 2: 10-14)
