DIVINE JUDGMENT AND THE GA STOOL: A CALL TO RETURN TO YAHWEH
THEME: REPENTANCE AND REFORM NEEDED FOR THE GA STATE
We write in the Name of the Almighty, Most High God, creator of Heaven and Earth, Father of all spirits. We humbly submit to the Chiefs, Elders and People of the Ga Traditional Council that the time has come for deep, humble and concerted deliberation concerning the current state of the Ga State, Ga Stool Affairs and Ga Custom.
The spate of court actions, press conferences or press war and disquiet in the Ga Traditional Council area can be said to be but expression of pain and tears of hurt and wounded Ga State. This must be addressed with deep concern and all sincerity, honesty, and purity of heart and mind.
May we suggest that in doing so, the Chiefs and Elders of the Ga Traditional Council must consider among other things:
i. Whether the Ga State is not facing divine wrath and judgment of any kind; and what acts of Repentance, Reconciliation and Peace must be set in place before the Almighty so there be peace, quiet and blessed hope in the Ga State for her peoples and the nation as a whole.
ii. What Statesmanlike Acts and Diplomatic Measures are needed to arrest the crisis, bring healing and restore stability and confidence in Ga chiefs, customs and practices;
iii. What Reforms and Transitional Arrangements are necessary to bring Transformation, purposeful direction, identification and meaningful participation of the aged, the young and the unborn.
Perhaps, it may be necessary to call attention here to the fact that the Ga Traditional Council has in the name of tradition, custom, ancestors and gods and ‘Homowo’ allowed attack on the worship of the Almighty, the disruption of worship services, the beating of worshippers, the desecration of chapels or Temples of God and the looting of church worship vessels. These were done in the name and honor of tradition, ancestors and gods and goddesses. Is the Almighty God risen in Vengeance?
Finally, we humbly suggest that it is time for the Ga Traditional Council in particular and the Ga-Dangme People in general to VISIT their connection with JAHWEH, the God of Israel, the worship of Him vis-à-vis the gods and idols of the nations. For according to scripture, the gods of the nations are but idols (Psalm. 96:5). Israel was and is expected to have no other gods beside Jehovah.
“HEAR, O ISRAEL; THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD” (Deut. 6:4)
