DIVINE PROTECTION: GHANA TRIUMPHS OVER 2002’S TRIALS

Series:

THEME: DIVINE MERCY SECURED GHANA’S STABILITY AND DESTINY

Ghana, let us thank God Almighty for year 2002.  Let all the people praise Him. Let us welcome year 2003 with shouts of Praise “efire se, oni yen adi no yiye”.  Year 2002 has been a year of great trials and tests with much spiritual and political tension.  It is amazing Ghana our beloved nation is witnessing the end of year 2002 in calm and in one piece.  Glory be to God for His mercies towards us as nation and people.

God in His mercy, might and providence has fought our battles for us as individuals, as families, and as nation and people.   He has protected the life of our President, President J.A. Kufuor, calmed the tempestuous waters of spiritual and political agitation, religious, social and cultural tensions and economic uncertainties. Year 2002 is ending with a ray of hope.  Thanks be to God.

At the spiritual and religious front, the LORD God of Hosts, Father of Jesus Christ has held His position as God, King, Saviour, Redeemer and Protector Of Ghana, putting at bay every satanic ploy and wicked human devices to drift the nation back into satanic domination, spiritual darkness, political confusion, the stoppage and holding in ransom our national aspirations. God has established and kept His Throne of Glory in and over Ghana. Glory be to His Name forever and ever. Hallelujah. Amen!

At the political front, we witnessed Divine protection and grace in the handling of threats to the life of President Kufuor through accidents, the healing of the Speaker of Parliament of his illness and the threats of fragmentation, the disruption of the legislative process and the sanctity of Parliament as a whole.

Perhaps, nowhere was social awareness of the height of political stakes in the country as with the establishment of the fast-track court of the Judiciary, and with it the challenge to the tenure of office of Chief Justice, Mr. Justice E.K. Wiredu.  I remember in this regard that long before Mr. Justice Wiredu came to act as Chief Justice in the Justice Abban and NDC era, and before I personally got to know him as a person, the LORD God of Hosts asked us (of the Ghana Evangelical Society) to pray for a Mr. Justice Wiredu whom none of us knew then.

It may be pertinent to state therefore that the Lord God has much at stake in the establishment of a system of justice and its delivery so Peace, Truth, Righteousness and Justice worthy of His Name and Glory as The God and Father of Ghana be prevalent in the land.

At the same time, the Hand of God upon Ghana, His Reign and Rule in the affairs of the nation was also eloquently evident in the many futile attempts to cause a coup and/or war to rise up in the country. The northerly regions have been targets of war maneuvers by forces in and outside the country desirous to throw the nation into bloodshed and chaos.

God the Creator, the God of Ghana is God of Peace.  He will fight Himself to prevent any war His will in the land. Thus, at the cultural front the mounting tension surrounding the yearly Ban on Drumming in Accra, which began in the late nineties, witnessed a lowering tide in year 2002.

A wave of national awareness for the need for Political Stability, Law and Order, Peace and Quiet, Brotherly Kindness and Loyalty to nation is gradually creeping through the nation.  This is a culture that needs to be nurtured and permitted to grow and flourish in the land.  For Ghanaians are yet to come into full consciousness of individual and group contribution towards nation building.  Political Parties and Corporate Groups, Schools and Colleges, Churches and Parents, civil society as a whole must raise high this banner of national consciousness, responsibility and loyalty for the Good of the Land in the knowledge and fear of God. It is our hope therefore that rapprochement and consensus will be arrived at soon to raise the Banner of Divine Victory, Peace, Unity, Righteousness and Rule of Law and Loyalty to yet higher grounds in the affairs of the nation.

At the economic front, “hippic generosity”, foreign exchange stabilization, and incoming transfers from Ghanaians abroad and growing export earnings are helping stop the economic anemia. Most significant, however is the mercy of God through rain and high yield of farm produce for food and export this passing year. We can build on this for Year 2003 and beyond.  We are confident year 2003 will witness still higher yields and food supply stabilization.   God is on our side.

We cannot comment here on the impact of food production on inflation, export earnings and foreign exchange stabilization and improvement.  All we will emphasize here is May the Mercy of God Be and Remain Upon Ghana now and ever. God wants Ghana to be and remain a nation of Peace and Quiet, Righteousness, Justice and Godliness as a testimony of His Goodness and Election of Ghana for His Praise and Glory in all the Earth. No spirit, no power, no human being can stop this. In this connection, the hands of Ghanaians must of needs rise up high towards God in praise and thanksgiving for the lowering of the high tide of armed robbery and planned elimination of targeted citizens around the country.

This was an unprecedented development in Ghana’s history in which without doubt internal and external forces joined hands together to destabilize the country and if they had their way stop the democratic process, with its consolidation of Human Rights and Freedom and Liberty, the sacredness of life and human dignity, God helped the country to uphold her testimony as a peaceful nation with law abiding citizens, hospitable and happy people and an economy ready to spring up with zeal and power in Africa. In this regard foreign participation with its incipient foreign control of the Ghanaian economy should be a subject, which Ghanaians must be weary of and therefore deliberately discerning about. We should not sell our birthright to Progress, Prosperity and Joy with eyes blinded, mouths gagged and hands tightened through corruption, personal ambition and fast track political gains.

Ghana a People of God, and a Land of Peace, Progress and Joy for all her citizens is a vision that all Ghanaians must thank God for and work together to foster and maintain. We pray for Peace and Quiet, Stability and Prosperity for Ghana.  The LORD our God will sanctify, magnify and glorify His Name with it.  Let us all rejoice and hope in God.

As the LORD Himself has put it several times at church, at the House of Worship, the Central Church of the Ghana Evangelical Society in Accra, He has chosen and married Ghana to show forth His Mercy, Reign and Rule and Kingdom Glory in the affairs of men and nations.  Ghana a Beulah Land, Star of Africa is a Divine agenda of immense proportions.

O PEOPLE OF GHANA, Let us all join hands in Praise and Thanksgiving for the LORD God of Hosts, Father of Jesus Christ and God of Ghana.

May special thanks and praises go up to God and His Christ this Christmas and End of Year programmes. May all go to Churches and places of worship with special Thanks offering To God the Creator and prepare ourselves with Joy and Hope for a Unique and Blessed Year 2003.

GOD BLESS GHANA.
