THE CHURCH, MISSION AND HOPE IN THE END-TIMES
THEME: RECLAIMING CHRIST AS THE SUPREME FOUNDATION AND RULING POWER
“Other foundation can no man lay other than CHRIST JESUS the LORD.” Indeed, Christ is the Spirit, Foundation, Power, Glory, and Hope of the Church. In this context, the church is one, knowing no distinction of color, space, or time.
Christ stands as the Spirit, Foundation, and Glory of the Church. The mission of the apostles and the prophets is clear: to Proclaim, Declare, and Present Jesus Christ as God to creation trapped in rebellion, disobedience, darkness, and death. He is the Creator, Savior, Redeemer, Restorer, and the ultimate Hope of Humanity. Currently, a spiritual shift is occurring within the Church. The Church’s standing in Christ—and its mission to witness the true knowledge of Him—is being shaken. “Another gospel” appears to be dominating the minds of many, one where Christ is no longer presented as the True God and the Sovereign ruling power in the world.
First, Christ’s position as GOD, KING and LORD, in oneness with the TRIUNE GOD (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), is not fully understood or accepted. He is the Creator of heaven and earth, the Father of all spirits, and the Supreme Power.
Second, Christ’s position as the Head Spirit-Power —the ruling and working power in and within the church— is not fully comprehended, believed, or received and accepted as premises of church and her mission.
The issue at stake from the beginning until today remains: “Who do you say that I am?”
The issue remains the same today as it was in the beginning. Religious observers may treat Jesus as a mere prophet, a teacher, or a master—one who simply declares the will of God. Some even treat Him like the “spirit of divination” mentioned in Acts 16:16, a mere medium for human desires.
The Church must recognize that her power base, character, and integrity are found only in being a CHOSEN PEOPLE. We are called out, redeemed, and set apart through Christ. This distinctive “redeemed base” must be fully accepted if the Church is to stand as the light in these end-times.
