WELCOME ADDRESS

Series:

NATIONAL HOLY SPIRIT CONFERENCE
POWER IN SERVICE
WELCOME ADDRESS
1986

SYNOPSIS: This address welcomes attendees to the 3rd Conference, encouraging
renewal, deeper fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and promoting church unity.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the
Father do; for what things so ever He doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the
Father loveth the Son, and showeth Him all things that Himself doeth; and He will show
Him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead,
and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom He will.”
“My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”
Our assemble this morning has been possible by the Holy Spirit who in His witness of
Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, has brought us together in Christ as a family for the
praise and glory of God. We all together as a Body have been commissioned to go out as
witness of Christ, proclaiming the Good News of the finished work at Calvary,
demonstrating the liberating and resurrection power in faith in Christ Jesus, and the joy
of the hope in the ascended Lord and Master.
The National Holy Spirit Conference have been designed as forum for the discussion of
the work of the Church in union with the Holy Spirit and a time of renewal and deepening
of the believers, knowledge of, faith in and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. It is also the
hope of the organizers that the forum so created will be another medium for promoting
love and unity in the church. This year’s Conference is the third in the series. The first
Conference held in January 1984, was organized by the Ghana Evangelical Society in this
very auditorium of Labone Secondary School.
In 1985, four other churches/fellowships joined GES to sponsor the Conference. The
third National Holy Spirit Conference being held again at the Labone Secondary School
is sponsored by twelve (12) churches/fellowships. Blessed be the Name of the Lord. The
names of the sponsoring groups and those of the Planning Committee are on the
programme for this opening service.
The theme for this year’s conference is POWER IN SERVICE. It is the greatest joy and
pleasure of the Planning Committee to welcome you all to the Third National Holy Spirit
Conference, Labone Secondary School, Accra-Ghana.
Last year’s conference was a very successful one, the Holy Spirit Himself demonstrating
His very obvious presence throughout the conference. With your support and the diligent
and God-honouring purposeful conduct of participants, we should witness another
outstanding National Holy Spirit Conference. We have arranged for seasoned speakers
who we are confident will be used by the Holy Spirit to be a blessing to participants. May
I at this stage pause briefly to allow you to say Praise the Lord to the brother/sister near
you.
Finally, my brethren in Christ, and honoured guests, I have pleasure to introduce the
servant of God whose duty it has fallen to formally open the Third National Holy Spirit
Conference, Rev. Sarfo, Chairman of the Pentecost Church, Ghana/West Africa, and
current Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal Council, embracing the main Pentecostal or
Full-Gospel Churches in Ghana.
The Church’s one foundation in Jesus Christ, her Lord. AMEN.
Before Chairman Rev. Sarfo delivers his address… we shall ask Sis. Agatha Nortey of the
Ghana Evangelical Society to sing a song.
