JEHOVAH NISSI: THE LORD OUR BANNER

Series:

SERMON INSIGHTS

The Divine Prohibition of Worldly Influence in Worship

Central Spiritual Truth: True worship must be governed by the Holy Spirit and remain distinct from the “spirit of the age” and worldly cultures.

  • The secret to spiritual impact is the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which allows the presence of the Lord to be felt by others.
  • Adopting popular “hip hop,” “reggae,” or “rock and roll” rhythms is warned against, as these are identified as music from the “prince of the power of the air”.
  • Following the “course of this world” leads to a confused church” that has ignored the Holy Spirit.

Scripture Reference: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1-2)

The Transformation from Soldiers to Throne-Room Attendants

Central Spiritual Truth: Faithful endurance through spiritual warfare leads to a promotion where believers stand as ” servants by the throne of God.

  • The ministry has successfully functioned as “soldiers of the cross” to overthrow spiritual dominions and take “Ghana for Jesus Christ”.
  • The transition is marked by the changing of garments into “white robes,” representing those who have stayed faithful through “tribulation”.
  • This new position is not for angels, but for the redeemed who will now serve and worship God “day and night in his temple”.
  • The Lamb of God serves as the shepherd who leads his people to “living fountains of waters”.

Scripture Reference: Therefore, are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them… For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters” (Revelation 7:15, 17).

Jehovah Nissi: The Assurance of Divine Protection

Central Spiritual Truth: When the Lord is one’s light and salvation, there is no basis for fear against any earthly or spiritual adversary.

  • Jehovah Nissi means “The Lord is our banner,” a title signifying triumph over the enemies of the nation and personal life.
  • Total confidence is required; no threat of a “gun woman or gun man” or “spirit from the sea” can stop the worship of God.
  • The believer’s true dwelling place is not a physical building, but Christ himself, who serves as a “hiding place” and a “mighty rock”.

Scripture Reference: The lord is my light and my salvation, who shall I fear? The lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)

The Covenant of Active Service and Sacrifice

Central Spiritual Truth: Divine protection and provision are tied to honoring God’s covenant through tithes, offerings, and obedience to His Word.

  • Worship is not entertainment; believers must “get in” and travel in the spirit rather than sitting quietly to be entertained.
  • The Lord is a “rewarder of them who diligently seek him,” requiring believers to search the Scriptures on their knees rather than “snoring” at home.
  • Paying tithes and “voluntary offerings” are “covenant honoring devices” that binds God to help in times of trouble.
  • Obedience to specific commands is the basis for asking God to “hear” personal prayers.
  • Engage in Worship: Join in singing and spiritual “traveling” during services; do not remain a spectator.
  • Maintain Holiness: Be faithful and holy to God to avoid the risks associated with seeking popularity with people.

Scripture Reference: “Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:10).

AMEN.
