OBAMA WON THE ELECTION BUT LOST AMERICA
THEME: THE CRISIS OF NATIONAL FOUNDATION AND THE NECESSITY OF DIVINE RETURN
People of Ghana, People of America, and the world: President Obama has won the US Elections but lost America. Can Obama stand the spill off of the elections? Can he bring America back on her feet and glory as leading economic power and military might in the world? Will Obama stand? Above all can Obama lead America back to her standing and glory as Godly Nation and people under the shadow, wings, and cover of the Most High God?
President Obama faces serious challenges. The challenges he faces are not so much the state of America today as a polarized and divided nation. There is the serious issue of confusion and disillusionment of the economic lords—and active agents of production and wealth creation, and the standard bearers of employment and economic performance of the US economy.
America faces stark reality of dark horizons of shaken economy, huge rising deficits, stagnating employment, fluid military posture, and disillusioned players. We are persuaded in this direction that it is this dark and bewildering economic situation that prompted Governor Romney to cry ominously, “I pray that he succeeds” in his concession speech. He also prayed for America twice in his speech. We are being prompted to ask the question, has President Obama lost the goodwill of the economic lords and active players in the US economy? Can he reason confidence in the economic processes? Second, if Obama rejects the God of America and moves on the prompting of the people who have no serious connection with the God of America, will God hear, heal, and prosper the economy?
Obama cannot easily dismiss the spiritual, economic, and cultural reality of America today. America is not only cutting herself off the Divine truth, righteousness, law, commandments, and light upon which the nation was founded, established, and which values have been holding the country stable and secure over the years. In spite of many and all challenges, America is now making a direct turn away from and against the God in whom she ironically claims trust for cover and fullness of Divine providence.
Pluralistic modern America is on the verge of total cut-off from Divine mercy and goodness. But would the Lord let America go? The time has come for the Church in particular, and all the people of America to seriously study the changing trends. There are challenges not so much in the age and race structure and philosophical and ideological groupings seeking space and place in the America political and cultural horizons as the spiritual and religious horizons. The question demanding attention, answer, and direction now is, will America remain a nation and people of God and under God? Is America ready to deny and reject God in absolute terms as in Russia and Europe as a whole?
In this direction also we dare say that Obama has won the election, but has lost the heart, spirit, and divine connection of America. The America that gave Obama the second nod to rule is not the spiritual, traditional, politico-economic, and cultural America that the fathers established, and which has seen glorious days under Divine light, values, and cover. Governor Romney is not acting as a prophet when he commented on trust, confidence, and hope in America’s God and her spiritual, traditional, and cultural values.
According to President Obama, he is building his next government and rule on hope. He has not clearly defined the basis of his hope. However, he mentioned the possibility of meeting with Governor Romney for discourse on the way forward and bi-partisan approach to the challenges America now faces. Hope is a strong spirit, but it needs basis, opportunity, and direction. As the Bible says, ‘except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ The obvious growing trend in the rejection of God, the Light, Knowledge, and Cover of Him in America is creating a dark spiritual atmosphere for hope in God—the God in whom America trusts. The time has come for America to return to God, if hope can have genuine basis, acceptable course, and the blessing of the Most High.
Will President Obama offend his constituents of people who made him win the election when he turns to the God of America? Does he have the conviction to do so? Can he master courage to do that? We pray that America finds means to cause God to stop the dark and negative trend of hopelessness, shaken, weakening economy, and disillusioned players, and futility awaiting those who reject God.
