PREAMBLE
Thanks be to God
Praise be to His name forever. Unto Him be glory, dominion and power forever and ever.
Amen!
This morning, the Lord put laughter in my mouth……Laughter of the Holy Spirit regarding
my childlike worries but more I believe about his great works, his finished works, the
abundance of his blessings unto me. Hallelujah! Amen!
Upon this note of laughter, do I rise up to ask you to join me to thank and praise the Lord
for His great and marvelous works during the 1992 national Holy Spirit Conference. The
Lord has been really good to us to the church in Ghana in particular and to Ghana as a
nation.
Songs of praise ought must and will rise up daily unto our God for the great and marvelous
works during this conference. As we began last night, the church and Ghana will not only
submit to Jesus Christ, Lord of the nations, but will continually worship, praise and serve
Him, building His Kingdom, showing forth the marvelous light of God to the peoples and
nations of the world.
Truly, all nations shall bow before Him. Truly all the people shall worship Him. May all the
earth praise Him forever and ever Amen!
INTRODUCTION
In saying this, may I remind you briefly about the importance of vision in the Divine and
Human scheme of things. Vision is not merely a mind picture of things; it is the source
both of inspiration and strength in the translation and transferring of the unseen unto the
realm of the seen. It is a source of Hope, a driving force and a cap or helmet to cover the
head against the elements in the tasks involved.
For as we have been reminded by the Rev. Daniel Lartey in his opening address, vision
carries with its mission. It is the lack of it, as the scriptures reveal that make people
perish.
To have a vision is a noble thing, therefore. To be committed to and determined to work
out the vision into reality is the more.
In this connection, may I seize this opportunity to thank God for all the participants in this
year’s conference and to congratulate you for accepting and honoring your election by
God for the revelation and working out of His Glory in Ghana and the world through the
church in Ghana, through your participation in this conference.
What this conference has been about is that God has brought us here to reveal to us HIS
vision, and intentions towards the church and humanity, particular reference to Ghana.
We have been led therefore to therefore to understand, and fully appreciate the role of
the church, or to narrow it down further, what shall be required of us gathered here in
particular to make the vision a reality.
Let me assure you right here that the vision of the church in glory will come to pass. Ghana
has been taken over for God and His Christ. Hallelujah! No doubt. Do not be afraid to
carry the news to the church and to the ends of the nation. For thus saith the Lord in Isaiah
chapter 60: 21:22
“Also, your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever, the branch of
My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified. A little one shall become a
thousand. And a small one strong nation. I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.”
Beloved, the vision is of a church, and a nation, the builder of which is the Almighty God
Himself.
THE CHURCH IN MISSION FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
There is no doubt that the church, you and I will have a part to play. This is what we have
been considering throughout the conference. We have surveyed the whole spectrum of
GOD’S Hands, Works and Rule in the affairs of men. God reigns and rules. Yes, but He
needs and uses human hands in many most cases. The church is His heritage among
men. We are therefore His vessels and partners for the working out of the vision.
The Lord builds the city, but He needs and uses builders. He watches over the city with
the watchmen who will keep wake with Him through and through, for He neither sleeps
nor slumbers.
In other words, God needs truly committed, dedicated, resourceful and faithful men to
use for His glory in the land, His glory is the church’s glory, the church’s glory is God’s
glory.
In this connection, the general agreement at this conference is that the church, all
Christians, must affect in fact actively participate, in all aspects of National Life, with the
marvelous light of the kingdom of God and His Christ. We are all missionaries, called out
and sent into the world to translate the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Light, to
gather peoples and nations unto God and His Christ.
This is our mission, the church’s mission in Ghana; to turn the people and nation to God.
We are not merely in the majority; the enemies of the church have already begun coming
and calling unto the church for help. They are actively seeking our company and
blessings. This confirms verses 3 and 4 of Is. 60, the scripture for the conference.
For examples, our Head of State who originally would appear not to have anything with
the church and Jesus Christ, government would not salute the church and nation at
Christmas and Easter, nor attend any church service, whose organization stopped the
publication of the Catholic Standard among others, dismiss the rumors about the
planned murder of the Editor of the Standard, has not begun to visit “churches” to plead
for forgiveness and to declared his love of God. Of course, we are yet to get his final word
about Jesus Christ.
THE GLORY OF THE LORD UPON THE CHURCH
All this proves that the Glory of the Lord has indeed risen upon the church, as we have
found out, darkness has surely covered the whole earth. Confusion, powerlessness and
hopelessness and everywhere. Everything is failing, fetish power, gun power, government
power, state power, money power, human ideology power, manpower, all have fallen. All
are seeking and crying for God’s Salvation, Religion is being revisited.
This then is a Great Hour of glory for the church. For religion per se cannot save. The
Saviour, the Redeemer, Liberator, Deliverer, the way, truth and life is Jesus Christ. Jesus
is the light of and for the world.
The church has the Truth. The church has and is the Light in the world. The church has
the authority and Power to liberate the world and to cause God’s hands of favour and
works of blessings and glory upon the land and the world. As we know, all what is
happening now is the handiwork of God, the working of the spirit of God. This is why we
had the courage to declare, that the hour of glory of the church is now….in this time of
darkness and confusion.
Beloved, let us rejoice and praise our God for this. In rejoicing, let us have the vision and
responsibilities involved clear in our minds. May I call attention specially to Moses words
of encouragement and caution to Israel in Deuteronomy chapter 6 when Israel was about
to enter the Promised Land………. highlight verses 4-9.
Let us ensure that Ghana does not go back to idolatry or go after other gods. Let us not
be ashamed of the gospel. Let us be bold and courageous to reject Satanism and Satanic
seduction i.e. polytheism in the name of political expediency, pluralism in society in a
false and blinded notion of Human Freedom and Rights. By all means, let people worship
what they may, but let the nations of Ghana know, have and honour the only one God,
Father of Jesus Christ.
UNITY IN THE CHURCH
This is why we have placed so much emphasis on Unity in the Church at this crucial time.
We can only attain the vision and realize the blessings involved, we can only Fulfill the
Mission of Glory if the church become really United in Faith and Action in the political
processes now, and continuing to be vigilant in evangelism, church planting, teaching,
intercession and working out the righteousness of God, letting our light shine throughout
in time and space.
Unity in the church is the message we shall like you to carry across, not just for political
action and by Christians. Our people must develop and maintain loyalty to God, Christ
and the Gospel beyond political party, tribal and other allegiances. The Spirit of Christ
and the Light or Philosophy and culture of the scriptures are transcending and must
transcend all others, who and what can compare, anyway.
THE CHURCH, THE NEW GHANA UNDER GOD AND HIS CHRIST
Our goal will be a land of glory – of Truth, Peace, Righteousness, Justice, Happiness,
Prosperity share the message, share the vision. Tell them our confidence, trust and hope
in the scriptures: –
• The Church shall prosper. The sanctuaries shall be beautiful (Is. 60: 13b)
• The nation shall be called the “city or people of God, the church, the holy
people” (Is. 60:14b)
I will make you an eternal excellence. A joy of many generations. You shall know that I, the
Lord am your saviour and your redeemer the mighty one of Israel. The political offices,
including all in the public services, shall be peace and the judges and righteousness. The
institutions of the nation shall be for salvation, and authorities praise.
This is the kingdom of Christ, Light, Peace, Righteousness, Freedom and Justice. And this
is the new STANDING of THE CHURCH IN GLORY. Is. 60: 19-22. GO, Tell it on the hills of
the church down the valleys of the people.
ARISE, SHINE, FOR YOUR LIGHT IS COME
AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD IS RISEN UPON YOU.
LET US TAKE GHANA FOR CHRIST.
Amen!!!
