YOUR HOPE IN CHRIST PART 2
SERMON INSIGHT
The Foundation of Divine Destiny and Sonship
Central Spiritual Truth: True human destiny is not determined by personal choices but by the Spirit of God who brings believers into the household of God as children.
- Being born again is described as entering the “household of God” where you are nurtured to fulfill a destiny defined by the Creator.
- Personal destiny is fixed by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who bring specific events into a person’s path to maintain their integrity.
- The “Sonship Phenomenon” represents the divine nature seen in Christ, which becomes the basis for the believer’s new life.
- Growth is not about human ability to make choices, but about the Spirit of the Lord directing choices to be consistent with God’s purpose.
Scripture Reference: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
The Practical Reality of Spiritual Growth
Central Spiritual Truth: Spiritual maturity is achieved through the active service and increase of the Spirit and personality of Christ within the inner man.
- Salvation is not just a title but involves receiving the “fullness of the possibility of divine nature” through the Holy Spirit.
- In Christ “dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily,” and receiving Him means having a deposit of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- The Word of God is defined as “spirit and life,” not merely a “literature book,” “scientific method,” or “technology of don’ts.”
- True maturity is not measured by “doctorate degrees” or becoming a “professor,” but by the growth of the spirit nature.
- Every believer must ask themselves what their personality of Christ is after years of walking with Him.
Overcoming the Internal Battle of Self
Central Spiritual Truth: The greatest spiritual conflict is the rebellion of “self-idolatry,” which must be surrendered to allow the nature of Christ to rule.
- A “crossover” to the promised land is not a guarantee of easy miracles, but a call to fight the “greatest battle,” which is “yourself.”
- Making yourself the “center of attraction and life” is identified as a form of rebellion against God.
- Christ is a man of “meekness” and “humility,” and as He builds fellowship in you, you become “more sober” and humble.
- The “old nature” of the first Adam, with all its failings, must come to an end to make room for the “new day of victory.”
Scripture Reference: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24).
The Revelation of Christ Through Fellowship
Central Spiritual Truth: Building a consistent fellowship through scripture, prayer, and service allows Christ to reveal Himself and His power through the believer.
- Fellowship with Jesus is the direct path to knowing God.
- Fellowship is constructed through four pillars: the “scripture,” “prayer,” “obedience,” and “service of the Lord.”
- As Christ reveals Himself more, the believer becomes a vessel through which God builds a “better human society.”
- Christ in the believer is the “hope of glory,” acting as a complete being who works and speaks through the person.
- Despite His humility, there is “no power on earth” that can stand against Jesus Christ when He fulfills His mission.
Scripture Reference: Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? (John 14:9)
Exhortations, Prayers, and Calls to Action
Central Spiritual Truth: Believers must move beyond empty religious labels to experience the practical liberty and victory provided by a sinless spirit.
- Call to Reconsider Position: “Reconsider your position, as a Christian, as a minister, as a professional as somebody that God is dwelling in.”
- Call to Practical Change: There must be a “corresponding rise in the quality of life” and character in those who claim to have crossed over.
- Exhortation to Seek Liberty: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free” [Galatians 5:1].
