WHAT RETURN, GOD’S INVESTMENT IN MAN!

Series:

THEME: THE DIVINE ECONOMY OF GRACE AND THE PURPOSE OF THE REDEEMED

Recently, I entered into deep travail over my failing sight. In the process, the Lord asked me a simple but profound question: Said the Lord, “I have made much investment in you, I have invested My name, truth, love, light, joy, and glory in you, what is My return?”  The Lord did not leave me to grope in distress for short of answer. In His graciousness, He gave me the answer.

Before sharing the answer, let us ponder a while over some scripture.

“LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!” (Psalm 144:3).

Why should God the Almighty Creator take knowledge and account of man to invest His Spirit of life and virtues in him?  Think of divine grace of power, wisdom, authority, and dominion over creation on the earth. Think again of divine grace of access to the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden!  Does God have a right to expect and demand some return from virtues and power He placed in man? Would God be wrong to request acknowledgement and thanks for the brain and opportunities in human society and nature for man, dear reader!  (Genesis 1, 2, and 3).

Sad, man blew it. Instead, Adam and Eve sought for freedom, opportunity, and power to break from God and be gods unto themselves, yet to continue with power of dominion over creation as originally instituted or set in place by God.

Again, what is man that even when fallen in glory—due to his disobedience and rejection of God—God should take knowledge and account of his suffering, pain, and agony in hopelessness? That God should go further to seek to deliver man from the curse and consequences of sin and redeem him completely from his fallen nature and the corruptibility, mortality, and futility in any attempt of permanency, liberty and life by man.  The grave has swallowed every effort of liberation and life.

It is this sorrowful state of man, otherwise described as the human tragedy, that God took knowledge of and took on to identify Himself with man in his fallen state of condemnation and futility. God took on the full nature of man, so to swallow and fully mop up the drain and complexities of fallen man. God took on the full nature of man, the condemnation and liabilities of man in Jesus Christ. God became flesh. What a mystery!  (John 1:1-16; 1st Timothy 3:16).

It is in this, respect, that we see Christ doing two major things for the benefit of man: the remission of sin and redemption from the full consequences thereof, and the recreation of man anew with fresh impartation of His Spirit and sublime divine grace. This is a high calling into the service of God, with open door of heavenly grace of power, authority, and operations in heavenly divine power terms. Through the unction of the Holy Spirit power, presence, and partnership in service with believers ‘Born Anew’ and baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit and power (Acts 1:8). In this new position of Divine Nature and standing, the Christian is by definition, of higher standing than angels who are created as ministering spirits.

As children and servants of God, there is a great Divine Grace, virtue, and power invested by the Father in believers in Him through faith in the Son. Yes, indeed it is Christ who imparts Divine Graces and Glory unto the children of God.

This is the nature, beauty, and glory of God—the Creator’s heavenly investment in redeemed man.  In Christ Jesus’s crucifixion, His shed blood, redemption, recreation and the resurrection Spirit and endowment of Divine Grace and Glory God have instituted a huge heavenly treasure—and eternally standing and sustaining system for doomed, perishing human race, and the world.  Herein, lies the meaning and significance, height and depth of the Lord’s question: “What is My return?”

Now let us turn to the answer. The Lord gave me two answers. There is first God’s expectation from man, created in His image: The Worship of Him. The second is for redeemed man, created anew and endowed with full Divine Nature and Glory in the Spirit, Name, Truth, Life, Light, Liberty, Joy, and Glory in and by Jesus Christ, not to mention access to the power of the Word and the Holy Spirit. The Lord’s Word is, “all I want of you is to extend My grace to all creation.” I need no Joy and Glory. I am fulfilled with joy and glory in Myself. To do this is My pleasure.  This reminded me of Christ’s meat and pleasure in the service of The Father.  (John 4:34; John 8:29)

Let us go and do likewise.  Amen.
