AMERICA LIES IN SAFETY

Series:

THEME: PREEMPTIVE WAR REVEALS AMERICAN MORAL BANKRUPTCY, ENDANGERS WEAKER NATIONS

Wonders will never end.  America the Beautiful, America the Land of Liberty has set the world on fire, leaving nations bleeding from rising oil costs, families split, children traumatized, streets, mosques, churches, offices and markets littered with bomb and blood, and the world in disarray.  America celebrates safety and security while the world mourns.

President Bush aided and abetted by both the US Congress and Senate, and with the connivance of the United Kingdom has struck fatal blow to world peace, stability and hope for millions with the show of Americas economic power and military might in a bid to protect America’s security, wealth and world dominance through pre-emptive war aimed at routing out perceived enemies and possible threats to America at source.

America’s open attack on Iraq is an issue in point.  The Iraq war was staged against the will and disapproval of God, disquieted and disheartened United Nations and open global denunciation and remonstrance.  The Bush-Blair power-demo rages on.  Who can stop it?

The result has been occupied and commandeered Iraq bleeding and reeling in agony, pain and hopelessness from political and economic chaos, open and unrelenting blood and oil flows.  Iraq is a bleeding nation of weak government, violent ridden, traumatized people and fleeing citizens.  The world looks on in helplessness.  There is no one to call, no one to come to her aid.  Does God care!  God seems to have been rendered impotent because no one seems to care to cry out to Him for help.

It may be appreciated in this connection that America’s pre-emptive war policy has not only promoted war, blood, belligerence and unilateralism in international relations and world politics, it has also created an unsafe and unstable world and diminished hope for nations and the human race as a whole.  Instead of Peace and Goodwill on Earth, instead of co-operation in wealth creation and distribution, the world lies cowed down by US-UK combined economic power and military might.  Even free and open fellowship and worship of God and moves for peace and stability in the Middle East are in disarray.

Meanwhile, suspicion between Christianity and Islam has been heightened global-wise.  Satan the real enemy of man has been given free rein to cause more havoc with confusion, discontent and division. We can conclude that pre-emptive war policy is a very dangerous proposition fraught as it is with serious and grave consequences for peace, stability and global human co-operation.  It is embedded with threats to life, security, progress and the well-being of peoples and nations of the world.  It is a policy that will promote confusion, fear and threats to the weak, needy and helpless.  It exalts might, makes might right and therefore can inspire ambition and encroachments, unrighteousness, injustice and inequities, lawlessness, imperialism and annexations.  The threat to peace, life and security of property due to the operations of armed robbers and land guards will give the reader a clear idea of the nature and effect of pre-emptive war policy.  That is to say, pre-emptive war policy may ultimately lead to threat to freedom, liberty and sovereignty of nations and peoples.

In making the above observations, we are not taking note of the truth regarding Iraq’s possession of and looming readiness to fire weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) nor of the reality of Iraq’s Al-Qaeda connections.  Both have since been found to be false claims, making the pre-emptive rationale behind the war in Iraq suspicious.

On the other hand, what right has nations to play God and intervene to overthrow leaders and establish governments of other nations, particularly on the basis that such governments and their nations are threat to others.

Thus has Iraq found herself occupied and faced with internal political confusion since there was no visible standing alternative for the governance of the land, however interim after the war.  But be it as it may, America the Land of Liberty has a spiritual, historical and moral obligation to respect and defend the liberty and sovereignty of Nations and Peoples in the Knowledge, Fear, Obedience and Honor of God in whom she trusts for her own liberty, sustenance and security. In any case, America is yet to count the cost of the pre-emptive war against Iraq.

We can say categorically in this regard that the spirit, life and policy of “Might is Right, Gun and Chariots for Glory” is both an abomination to God and a threat to peace, tranquility, security and sovereignty of nations, and sound fraternal relations of goodwill, dignified co-operation among nations and respect to the sanctity of life and inalienable right to it.  Nations as individuals do not have the right to attack neighbors on the presumption of imminent or future attack.

We end with a quotation of Christian scripture to the Church in America and both the Believing and Non-Believing world alike – Isaiah 2:5-9

“O House of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD

Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, an d are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers

Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots;

Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made;

And the mean man bowth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not”

Yes, America lies in safety, affluence and comfort while the world burns from her conduct of business!!
