THE JOY AND HOPE IN THE FAITH PT 2

Series:

SERMON INSIGHTS

THE JOY OF RESTORED FELLOWSHIP AND PERFECTION

Central Spiritual Truth: The removal of separation between man and God opens a door for us to regain the perfection we once lost and motivates us to attain divine glory.

  • There is a deep joy in being a Christian because you have established a beautiful fellowship with God.
  • The separation that once existed is gone, and you now have an open door of opportunity to become a perfect man.
  • This joy serves as a powerful motivation, driving you to reach for the heights of glory set before you.
  • You are no longer just a creature of the earth; you are getting the opportunity again to do what was lost in the beginning.
  • God looks upon you with pleasure when you discipline your life to walk in this state of perfection.
  • Scripture Reference: “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).

THE GLORY OF SONSHIP AND THE HEAVENLY STATUS

Central Spiritual Truth: Being born again elevates the believer from the status of a mere creature to a child of the Most High, carrying an inherent hope of rising in the nature of Christ.

  • Once I was but a creature, but today I am a child of the Most High, and there is immense joy in that transition.
  • If you are born again, you are officially called the child of the Most High God.
  • This position of sonship is not static; it includes a hope of attaining the divine heights described in the holy scriptures.
  • Even the great Apostle Paul, when he chose to boast, found his joy and hope in this effective standing before God.
  • Your status as a child provides a foundation for receiving rewards that are specifically reserved for the family of God.
  • Scripture Reference: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not” (1 John 3:1).

THE DIGNITY AND REWARD OF THE FAITHFUL SERVANT

Central Spiritual Truth: True glory is found in the discipline of servanthood and the serious undertaking of the church’s mission as a soldier of Christ.

  • Do not just rejoice in being a son; remember that you are also called to be a servant and a soldier.
  • There is a specific glory and reward tied to your position as a servant of the Most High.
  • We must be serious with the church mission, for God has committed many precious things to our trust.
  • If you are not serious as a servant with the work of the church, you will miss the glory that comes from faithful labor.
  • Being steadfast, loving, and obedient to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit ensures that your hope extends beyond the grave.
  • Scripture Reference: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

VICTORY OVER DEATH AND THE ASSURANCE OF HOPE

Central Spiritual Truth: Through Jesus Christ, the believer is granted a victory that removes the sting of sin and the threat of the grave.

  • I thank God for Jesus Christ, who gives us the victory over every trial and temptation we face.
  • When you walk in the Spirit, you understand the extent to which God has blessed you and where He is taking you.
  • The grave shall not be a threat to those whose hope is anchored in the finished work of Christ.
  • You can talk to the grave with authority, knowing it cannot challenge the life you have in God.
  • Continue your labor of love with joy, for the reward is coming soon and your God will be with you always.
  • Scripture Reference: “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

Exhortations, Prayers, and Calls to Action

  • Exhortation to Seriousness: I am appealing to you to be serious with the church mission. Do not neglect your position as a soldier and a servant of God.
  • Call to Spiritual Walking: Let us walk in the Spirit so that we can understand spiritual things and remain unshaken by the trials of this world.
  • Instruction for Steadfastness: Be steadfast, loving, and obedient to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit at all times.
  • Command to Rejoice: Rejoice always because you have fellowship with God and He will surely be your God forever.
