The Revelation of Divine Glory for a New Africa

The Word and the Coming of Light. In Luke, Zachariah prophesied over his son, John, when he was born and he said that John was going ahead to prepare the way in the world for the coming of Jesus Christ and particularly, that Jesus shall be a light to the Gentile nations. Simeon also brought that concept when Jesus was born; so Jesus is a person that has great responsibility towards creation. The world came by the word, and the word is Jesus Christ.

I’ve been telling my friends in these last few months; the word is not literature. The word of God is not something you learn and pour out. You can pass your exam and get a doctorate degree in theology or missions, and yet, not know Jesus Christ. We have reached a place where academic attainments and the like are the areas of human glory. To the extent that the church has allowed and made an inroad for human wisdom, knowledge, and power to have its place when we are discussing divine, heavenly things.

God’s Sovereign Design

It looks as if God cannot do without man, or without man’s input. As if, if God wants to change Africa, he must consider Africa’s expectation of what it wants to be. But that is not the issue. The new Africa or the new world is not a new Africa or a new world of human expectation or design or experience. It’s a new world that Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit want to establish.

So God has no right to think of a new Africa without having consulted the Africans? No. We are coming from a completely new table on which all old things indeed would have passed away. Our premise here is that it is God that is the actor. We don’t teach Him what we want; He tells us what the Father wants, and He is the one who created us.

The Church as the Agency of Glory

The church mission is Christ’s mission with His people. He wants to make new people out of us, people of divine glory. People who would not just portray divine glory but be the instrument of establishing divine glory on creation, beginning with our country, and therefore, the continent of Africa.

We open our hearts so the Spirit of the Lord will reveal His mind to us. We should be lifted up to the level where we can really be instruments to convey, not God’s ideas, but to convey the transformative power and the creative power of God to make that new thing in our nation. The Father has elevated man to a level where he can be a partner and a friend and a companion of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The church can understand the language of God and be a transmitter and agency of the divine power among human beings and creation.

We have learned that the church is meant first to represent the creator, and second, to present the creator to the creation. That the church in mission must represent God. This is a very heavy responsibility.

A Vision for a New Ghana and Africa

We want to leave a testimony to be written in the Book of Remembrance. Our testimony to be written on the earth of creation is that we shall be instruments to establish a new world. That if God has a vision for the new world of divine glory, heritage of glory, we shall be the people through whom He makes all this possible.

God intends to bring something completely new that is not existing already. There is no frame of reference to use. As my brother said, there’s an old Africa, but that was old. But what is wrong with the old? If the first was complete, there would not have been the need for a New Testament. If the old Africa was complete by itself and good and glorious, we would not be talking here about a new Africa.

The new Africa has nothing to do with man’s expectations or will or purposes. It is the God’s heavenly design that He is going to establish. If we accept that God has a right to change it, then let’s allow ourselves to be instruments.

The New Nature and The Open Door

It began, as we learned in these few days, with a new people. Our new nature is true sense, is divine. It is not first Adam; our new nature is divine. Completely sinless divine nature, ready to portray the marvelous light and glory of God in this state of darkness, confusion, and consternation.

God breathed a new spirit into the existing fallen man, which we call the resurrection spirit or regeneration spirit. So instead of making us take a new soil, He just breathed His spirit, the sinless spirit that when I’m walking the streets of Accra, the trees and the birds will see God in me because I shall be shining in the spirit like God and in me, I present the Creator to you. As Jesus said, “If you see me, you have seen the Father”.

The Old Order Must Pass Away

Progress in Africa has to come, and it will come only when we get rid of the old ways and the old order. The old thing in Africa is tradition, the idolatry, the blood sacrifices, the sorcery, the witchcraft. The tradition of darkness and non-progress.

In Ghana, all the tribal gods are war gods. There’s no tribal god that is a god of honor. This is what kept Africa in darkness. The old Africa was cursed because of this. Why is Africa not growing? It is idolatry and God cursed Africa in a special way, that we shall not have political stability. Even this year, people are preparing for war. They are making human sacrifices, opening the earth and burying live people. This is abomination to God. You cannot go to church and still go practicing tradition and burying human beings alive. Light and darkness cannot coexist.

The Failure of the Old Church

The old Africa and the old church together must go. The greatest hindrance to the growth of the church in Africa is tradition and infidelity. There are no people that are faithful in Africa. We don’t know how to be faithful to leaders. We don’t even know how to be faithful with the Christian faith.

This infidelity spirit is because our fathers have many gods. There is a god for chasing girls, a god for having babies, a god for a farm, a god for political power. So there is no one God but in heaven, there is only one God.

The old church is set with a mindset of unfaithfulness and unrighteousness and a church of pleasure, prosperity, and wealth. That is the grave church. The trappings of the world; new cars, new houses, cash in the bank, these are the graves that Satan and men place in your way so that you lose the vision.

Political and Economic Transformation

Our leaders have been controlled by three spirits: the fierce king, the cruel master, and the perverse spirit. A man comes with great glorious ideas, and a spirit of perversion comes and blows round, and very soon the man has lost his grips. Governance is like vomit; nothing good comes of our governance and statecraft.

We pretend that we are wise, but our wisdom is always with reference to the gods. We go and call dead ancestors that they should give us light. The people are dead, and they couldn’t help themselves. That’s Africanism. Nkrumah is dead and gone. If you go and invoke his spirit to win an election, you are getting in trouble.

Governments that win by corrupting and bribing everybody with government money are not fit to be called government. They are thieves and robbers. We need Christian politicians who call upon God. A Christian head of state who reads the Bible in the morning, kneels down, and God will give him wisdom. You need a David politician.

True Wisdom vs. Worldly Philosophy

The world we are looking for is not political theories and economic thoughts. It depends on a divine person doing new things. All the scientific discoveries and political ideologies are still within the portraits of fallen nature.

The Conclusion of the Matter

We need a Christian in the city, in finance, who sits down with the minister of finance and prays, and God will give him revelation and wisdom on how to grow the economy. Instead of going to pay money to Mallams and fetish priests and going to China to get ideas. The ideas are here, on our knees with God.

The church must reposition herself. The latter church shall be more glorious than the former one. That new church shall be the seed for a new Africa. And the old Africa shall pass away. I’m excited to belong to this family. I will live to see the new Africa. Let’s come together.
