THE WAR IN IRAQ MUST END!

Series:

THEME: THE MORAL AND HUMANITARIAN NECESSITY OF PEACE

It’s Time for the war in Iraq to End.  We appeal to the United Nations to take this up and save Iraq, the USA and Al-Qaeda from this endless and fruitless bloodshed, financial outlay and hopeless adventure in ideological and religious campaigns.

The UN must negotiate an armistice, reconcile the contending parties, bring peace, and stop the untold suffering of the peoples of Iraq and the USA in particular, and the rest of the world as a whole.

There is no debate that the Iraq War has shattered the US political economy. That, America is faced with heavy and mounting national debt, political division, an estranged White House, uncertain Capitol Hill, a beleaguered Army, and a divided, confused, and helpless citizenry.  The US dead and dying are not as many as the dead, dying and traumatized of Iraq.  But they add to the heavy numbers of casualties and flowing blood of the war.

Ultimately, the war in Iraq has dented the image of the USA as a buoyant democratic country and has reduced and compromised her stature as the “Land of Liberty” and a superpower worthy of trust. The high moral anti-Saddham regime and stop the WMD-terrorism pre-emptive war has but brought unimaginable pain and suffering to Iraq, the USA and the world.  It has opened a “can of worms” that includes damage to the military and moral victory in Afghanistan, the gingering of the Christian-Islamic religious conflict, and the broadening and emboldening of terrorism in the world, thereby inflicting more damage and pain to world security, stability, and peace.

We may observe further that appeals to sentiments of loyalty and support of the army, have made America of all political and religious persuasion by and large, fall victims to the forces behind the US economic and military power machine.

On the other hand, the response of Al-Qaeda to the challenges posed by the so-called terrorism pre-emptive war is only making Al-Qaeda an unwitting partner to America’s economic-cum-military brinkmanship and super power jingoistic mania.

To the Americans, the cost in silver and blood, compromise with political and religious ideals and fallen image of the nation is nothing as long as America can consider herself safe and secure today.  Tomorrow will take care of herself, they seem to say. It is no wonder the magic balm that has calmed the waters after the mid-term elections storm.  Notwithstanding its stuck in the ditch lame duck nature, the US return on success policy seems to open a window of escape from the dark realities of the war.

The clear language here is that America has declared “No Exit” to occupation whatever the cost to Iraq or the USA or both.  Al-Qaeda on the other hand does seem to be in no mood to end the devastation in the bid to plummet the conscience and good sense of America.  In the process, Al-Qaeda is doing the utmost to render the Iraqi Government still more impotent. It will not be out of place to say that both America and Al-Qaeda on one hand and the civilized world of East and West and the United Nations on the other are faced with a dilemma. At the United Nations, Al-Qaeda has no representation and therefore no platform and no voice to plead its cause. On the other hand, the USA seems to be posturing complicity of the UN in the carnage in Iraq, the endless bloodshed, the mounting deaths, fleeing peoples of Iraq, pain and suffering around the globe.

The truth and urgent need is that whatever the pleas of the USA and Al-Qaeda before God and Men, it’s time to stop the war in Iraq.  There is no apology that can justify the sustained shoot, kill and eliminate operation.  Killing and aspiring Al-Qaeda stalwarts, foot soldiers, supporters and sympathizers cannot eliminate terrorism wherever and whenever it raises its head around the globe cannot and will not guarantee safety, security and peace in the world.  In any case, even if it is possible, for how long and at what cost in lives, peoples well-being and political stability of nations and threat to world peace and the dignity of man and sacredness of life.

What is happening is that the US return on success policy is a drain both on the USA and Al-Qaeda, and also the world.  It is also compromising the UN position as a peace organization providing a forum for reconciliation and resolution of human, national and world matters.

The truth here also is that the USA has lost any pretense to being a Redeemer Nation or People of God, Liberty and Democracy. Al-Qa’ida on the other hand cannot continue indefinitely to impose pain, hazards and confusion on the people and government of Iraq and also the Islamic Faith because of the intransigence as it were of the USA. To Stop the War is the only wise and face-saving option for all parties.  It is the only way open to ensure enduring peace and security for independent and sovereign Iraq.

We appeal to Capitol Hill, the European Union and Russia to assist the United Nations to intervene and stop the Carnage, Devastation and Desolation, the UN can save the USA, Al-Qaeda, the UN itself and the world from the dilemma of ill-conceived, dangerous and forsaken pre-emptive war in Iraq.

GOD SAVE IRAQ!

GOD SAVE AMERICA!!

GOD SAVE THE HUMAN RACE!!!
