THE WOYOMEGATE ORDER—CREDIBILITY AND SINCERITY AT STAKE

Series:

THEME: COVENANT ACCOUNTABILITY AND THE SANCTITY OF THE NATIONAL THRONE

God, in His mercy, has brought Ghana this far and so far. Thus far, much has taken place under Divine Mercy, Goodness, and Working Power to make Ghana a show piece of God at Work in the Affairs of Nations. For blessed indeed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, a people chosen for His own inheritance (Psalm 33:12).

It is this Divine grace that has culminated in President Atta Mills’ claim that God is the King and Occupant of the nation’s throne and the Seat of Government. To make such a statement about Israel cannot be disputed, even if it is usurper like King Herod who makes it.  But as the Lord Jesus Christ has hinted or rather given illumination on such issues:

“By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20)

History reminds us that one King Herod slaughtered hundreds at the birth of Christ, while another King Herod also executed John the Baptist and went on to claim Jerusalem-Israel as his handiwork.  He reached his limit in this act of usurpation of Divine glory.  He took God’s glory upon himself.  Consequently, Divine wrath and judgment descended upon Him in a swarm of devouring worms.  Truly, God moves in mysterious ways, and His Judgment is written in advance for the wicked, however slow and long Divine mercy drags.

The “Woyomegate scandal” can be said to be the litmus test, first whether President Atta Mills is a Christian in truth and in reality, second whether God put him on the throne in the first place and is faithful to it and third whether our President is seated at the feet, unction, blessedness, and counsel of the Almighty God, the King proper on the nation’s throne and Seat of Government.

The “Woyomegate scandal” conveys a vision and a bad odor with it, of National Chest Rampage, financial loss, with impunity, ministers of state sacrificed in the lust of power and riches, and public interest discarded and national oath abrogated without remorse. They all call to question the spiritual reality, credibility, and sincerity of our dear President as a Christian on one hand and a Loyal Citizen and Patriot of Ghana on the other.  We are tempted to also ask, whether Mr. Woyome is a Christian and a loyal, responsible, and trustworthy citizen of the country, and whether personal gain is above national interest and social responsibility?

These are values of deep concern regarding public office holders and public officers in general.  There are also questions about truth and honesty, responsible conduct, religious faith, and loyalty of all citizens.  ‘For righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to all peoples.’

I have written elsewhere about the rising trend of violence, insults, lies, robbery, and theft within the politics and governance of the country.  There are also the pain, suffering, disillusionment, and frustration at the economic front during His Excellency Atta Mills’ era. The suffering is real notwithstanding the claims of economic growth.  Indeed, it has taken spiritual vigilance to prevent the resurgence of military coups.  Of course, cries against military coups cannot prevent God from overturning things (Ezekiel 21: 27).

The Martin Amidu and Betty Mould-Iddrisu episode reminds one of America’s Watergate scandal.  President Richard Nixon did his best to conceal things, but in the end the sacrifice of public officers caused him to “commit suicide”.   He could not afford to see his appointees suffer for his misconduct while he holds on to and sits comfortably in office.  He resigned from office.  Will that be the end of His Excellency’s regime! The truth is that God cannot be mocked!

I conclude and humbly submit thereby that President Atta Mills must clear the foul air and raging fire concerning the truth and status of the Woyomegate scandal.  If found inappropriate, this must be honorably acknowledged, and arrangements made for restitution and redress of all related issues. Above all, His Excellency must endeavor not to claim God’s approval and implicate Jehovah in the Woyome debt payment scandal.

I plead that His Excellency must not be tempted to defile the Throne of God, nor tarnish the reputation, image, and glory of the Most High!
